AGRI-Terra PERFORMANCE GUIDE Effects of Agri-Terra
Treatment to Cotton Seedlings Inoculated with Root-Knot Nematode,
Meloidogyne spp.
Rows of Sierra
Acala Cotton infested with root-knot nematode (RKN), Meloidogyne
spp., were used in a small plot trial of 4 rows by 55 feet (16.76 meters).
The growing cotton was treated with Agri-Terra at 0.5 and 1.0% concentrations at
a 15 gallons/acre rate (140L/hectare), and a third treatment at 1.0%
Agri-Terra at 30 gallons/acre
(280L/hectare). These were compared to Temik treated plants. Treatments were
assigned based on nematode population density, as measured by soil core samples
(see Agri-Terra Guide [pdf]).
The evaluations compared the
number of young healthy cotton plants per plot. The results showed all
treatments of Agri-Terra had significantly greater numbers of healthy plants
relative to the untreated control or Temik treated plots. Agri-Terra was also
shown to be more effective at the 30 gallon rate than the 15 gallon rate.
Results thus far have shown greater plant survivorship for Agri-Terra
treatments under nematode infested field conditions than conventional Temik
treatments.
Ongoing analysis includes comparisons of
nematode soil densities, root galling, plant weight and harvested yield.
